GG4 is more commonly known as “Gorilla Glue” and is famous for its massively sticky, resin-caked buds. You’ve probably smoked it before, but you’ve definitely heard about it in songs.
In 2014 GG4 won first place in the Los Angeles and Michigan Cannabis Cups, as well as the High Times Jamaican World Cup. These accolades are huge, considering the specific regional passions for marijuana.
If this article feels like a love letter to GG4, that’s because it is. GG4 is worth the attention, and will quickly become one of your go-to marijuana strains.
In 2009 GG4 was bred by Joesy Whales, a former crane operator. Joesy underwent a serious open-heart surgery and was seeking relief from the pain and major anxiety he was feeling after the operation.
Josey used these strains:
to create the perfect little bud.
GG4 is 60% Sativa, 40% Indica. This is a great combo because it sends the body into a relaxed state but keeps the brain focused and alert.
The THC content of this strain typically ranges from 25-30%, and has almost no CBD (0.1%). Because of this, GG4 will definitely make you feel high.
GG4 is known for its pungent smell containing earthy notes of diesel, and pine. Some people describe this as a sour smell, especially considering who GG4’s parents are.
But don’t be fooled by the smell, this weed will leave you with a chocolate/woodsy aftertaste, similar to a cup of coffee.
The appearance of GG4 is legendary. One of the most famous attributes of this strain is that she is absolutely covered from head to toe with sticky resin (trichomes). The face of this plant is so sticky in fact, that that’s where Gorilla Glue gets its namesake. The gluey quality of the resin seals scissors together when cultivators are trimming their plants.
In addition to the shimmery coat made of crystals, the little tree-like buds are bright green with lovely orange hairs (pistils) sprinkled throughout.
GG4 has been reported by users as one of the best marijuana strains for joint pain, particularly related to arthritis. It is also believed to help with anxiety, depression, stress, mood improvement and insomnia.
The indica part of this hybrid plant will have your body so relaxed that you will inevitably be glued to wherever you happen to be sitting.
The sativa portion of this strain is powerful, psychoactive, and even trippy. GG4 smokers have reported feeling uplifted and focused.
GG4 would be great for any introspective activities that are typically performed while sitting down, i.e. journaling, drawing, watching a nature documentary and murmuring the word, “whoa” to yourself every once in a while.
It’s amazing how one little plant can help with so many ailments. But, as with any strain of marijuana, please dose carefully at first before increasing your intake, as it is common for people to have varying experiences.
GG4 would be a wonderful addition to your crop because of its strong potency and high resin count. Just be sure to have a dedicated pair of scissors that you don’t mind getting gummy when it comes time to harvest.
When planted indoors each plant can yield 18oz per square meter, and flowering can take between 8-9 weeks. This plant does well in warm and humid climates, typically around 80 degrees Fahrenheit (once flowering begins the temperature can be lowered to 75 degrees Fahrenheit).
When grown outdoors GG4 can produce even more of a crop, about 21oz per plant. At night if the temperature drops more than 10 degrees there’s a chance it will stress your plant out, which could result in the plants becoming a hermaphrodite (meaning, both male and female at the same time). Harvest time usually takes place around mid-October.
Typically when growing your own marijuana you will want to discourage male plants, and plants that have both male and female parts. You’ll be able to tell if a plant is male because it will start to grow little balls. Male plants mean more unwanted seeds in the crop, and also smaller buds overall.
GG4 is a very thirsty plant and prefers about 60% humidity. Happy growing!
GG4 is an award-winning potent hybrid strain that serves up euphoria and major relaxation while also reducing anxiety and stress. Yes it does sound like a Star Wars droid, and that’s because it’s out of this world.
